Liechtenstein survived the Second World War as a neutral, unarmed state without occupation or involvement in the war. The publication ‘Sovereignty and Neutrality: Liechtenstein and the international state system against the background of the National Socialist threat in the years 1933–1945’ summarises the results of contemporary historical research and provides insights into the Principality’s policies and strategies in the 1930s and during the Second World War. It examines the attempts of National Socialist Germany to exert influence on the small state and the question of Liechtenstein’s state sovereignty and neutrality in an international context, not least by analysing the connection between the internal order and the international constellation.
